Same for skiffs. Fishing itself as a major xpack feature is just quite pathetic. We don't know the balance on how the turtle damage is gonna turn out just yet but If I had to guess, It's going to be lower than your character's assuming you are using more than 2 buttons. Just treat the turtle as a coop mount not a combat mount.
I think this is blown big time out of proportion. Me having a full time job was able to get the turtle mount within the first few days after the expansion release. Including finishing the story. The only thing people have a hard time on are the meta and the strike. Just wait in the map and a tag will group everyone one up for the meta.

The turtle is currently locked behind a meta event that is very difficult to do (similar to Chak when it was released) Give it a try to look at the map. But don't expect LFG groups or random maps to succeed. If you just wanna do it for the reward or enjoy the game as a casual player then wait a few weeks and focus on the easier content first
